Discovering a Voice [Closed]

After abruptly leaving Andy's room, Natsuki dashed across the hall and practically dived in after opening her door. Her breathing came out a bit too fast, and her heart clenched painfully.

Andy was a nice guy, really, but her heart belonged to someone else. She slid down a wall adjacent to the door and let out a deep sigh. What was she going to do now? Natsuki hoped that Andy didn't hate her for her action.

Kira walks towards Natsuki's dorm holding her cell phone and sighs. He had no problem with the girl, she was actually very nice; but he was not a very big fan of visiting girls he just met in their dorms.

Kira knocks on Natsuki's dorm and waits for an answer.

Natsuki's head snapped up at the quick knocking at the door. She hoped that it wasn't Andy, or anyone else for that matter. A sigh escaped her lips. Maybe she should ignore whoever was at her door, and hoped that they leave soon.

Yeah... That sounded a pretty good idea. Natsuki brought her knees together and then pulled them to herself.

Kira knocks again, He has the feeling she is in there but has not proof other then his gut. He sighs and says "Hey Natsuki, It is Kira; I have your cell phone, you forgot it after training on the heavy bag.

Kira decided not to mention it was in his room since it might lead to awkward situations with Rina and others for the both of them.

The moment she heard Kira's voice Natsuki almost let out a groan of despair. She had wished it was a girl so that at least she wouldn't act all awkward and shifty. But since Kira had her phone, Natsuki needed to open the door.

"Coming!" She yelled out as she forced herself to get up and open the door partially so that only her head and half of her body was visible.

"Hello, Mr. Yagami," Natsuki greeted and forced a smile. "Thanks and sorry for the trouble of returning my phone to me."

She hesitantly held out her hand for him to place the phone on.

Kira sighs and asks "are you ok? and what did I say about calling me Mr. Yagami?" Kira gives Natsuki her phone back AFTER she answers his two questions.

At the moment he knew something was off with her, he had learned the basics of reading emotions and he knew she was not her self at the moment.

Her smile faltered a tiny bit before Natsuki brought it back up again. She could not lose face right now. Natsuki never told her problems or feelings to anyone, except for her brother but even then he only knew what she wanted to tell him.

"I'm completely fine," Natsuki waved off his question before blushing at being reprimanded for calling him Mr. Yagami. "S-sorry. I forgot."

She cleared her throat sheepishly, "Excuse me for sounding rude, but may I have my phone back? I still have a lot of unpacking to do."

Kira sighs and says "you are a crappy liar, but it is none of my business; however if you ever need to use the heavy bag or to vent i will listen. The phone is no problem.

Kira hands Natsuki the phone and wonders what is wrong.

Her facade dropped once Kira bluntly told her that she sucked at lying. Natsuki took her phone and looked down to the ground, ashamed of having being caught. She sighed.

"Thanks for pointing that out, but I'm working on it," Natsuki pocketed her cell phone, "And thanks for the offer, although I doubt I'll need it."

She scratched the back of her neck as she admitted, "I'm not much of venter, or someone who uses a bag to let out my stress or troubles on."

Kira smiles a little and says "well if you ever need it, it is there. I know we just met, but there are not many places around here to relieve stress".

Kira smiles at the girl and says "people are people so why should it be, you and I treat each other so awfully".

She returned his smile, "Thanks, again, for the offer."

Natsuki then raised an elegant eyebrow at his last statement, "Sorry, what? I don't quite get what you're saying."

"It is a song by an 80's band called Depeche Mode, basically he is saying since we are both human, we should all treat each other well". Kira laughs a little and says "cheesy I know".

"Oh," Natsuki could only nod at his explanation. She didn't know who Depeche Mode was, but apparently he's a good person if Kira was quoting him. A tiny smile made its way to her lips as the saying sunk into her.

"Cheesy, but true."

Kira smiles back and says "well you know, some of the best messages were delivered through music". Kira smiles and says "glad to see that smile by the way".

Natsuki wanted to curse her parents for stopping her from listening to any other music except for classical. She honestly didn't know that messages could be delivered through music, except for feelings.

The smile remained, although it twitched a bit.

"Have I not been smiling?" Natsuki asked.

Kira smiles a little and says "well when I got here, it was a fake smile, you seemed upset. Now it is more genuine".

Kira hears a million songs in his head and smiles asking "do you need help with anything?".

"I see," Natsuki frowned. "I definitely need to work on that..."

Her eyes flickered momentarily to the door just beyond Kira's shoulder, "Don't mind me. I'm just overwhelmed with unpacking."

Kira smiles a little and says "well you want help with unpacking, in the past few weeks I have gotten good at that". Kira had helped a few people unpack and wanted to help Natsuki for what ever reason.

Natsuki was surprised that her lie actually worked, but now she had to deal with Kira a little longer. Not that he was annoying or anything. Natsuki desperately just wanted to be alone with her thoughts. Then she looked over her shoulder and her eyes bugged out from their sockets.

She still had several boxes taped and closed, waiting to be unpacked. Natsuki opened the door wider and backed off so that Kira could come in.

"Thanks... again."

There was a bed, quite neat, in the corner of the room, but that was all that seemed to be only organized furniture there. Well, at least the floor was clean and easy to maneuver around because the boxes were stacked up on top of each other.

Kira smiles and walks into Natsuki's room, he knew this was not the reason she was upset but figured he might was well help her out. He looks at the boxes and then asks "is there any side you want to work on first?". Kira was aware most people wanted To open certain things first; but a few people just jump into it.

Kira walks over to the boxes and puls out a small pocket knife and waits for the order to open a box.

"Just those over there for now."

Natsuki pointed to a stack of boxes by the right corner of the room. They were just her collection of books and old notes from school. For some reason she kept the notes out of habit.

And she was ever so glad that there was a big bookcase on another wall where an empty desk was set next to it. In another corner was another set of boxes, but those were her personal things and she was going to unpack those later when she was alone.

Kira walks over to the boxes and pulls the one closest to the wall and pulls it down, gentally placing it on the floor before pulling out the blade and spinning it around his finger. Kira then cuts open the box.

The inside of the box contained old books. Kira looks at some of them, kind of supprised to see he knew them. "where would you like these book?" Kira asked, though he was pretty sure she wanted them on the shelf.

"Are you allowed to have knives in this school?" She asked slightly wary of the weapon, although she was impressed with how Kira twirled it with ease.

Natsuki took another box from the pile and opened it (without a knife). She pulled the books out, but left the notebooks in.

"Yeah, can you try to put them in alphabetical order by the author's last name?"

"so long as the knife is registered and I do not do anything violent with it, I can have it. If you take a look there are decorative knives around this school" Kira says as he pulls out the books and begins to order them on the shelf by author.

Kira grabs another box and opens it, this time it was full of notes and other papers, from what appears to be middle school. "where would you like your notes?" Kira asks; he was kind of curious as to why she kept the notes but kept it to him self.

"Oh. That's good. I didn't want to get you in trouble if I happened to have mentioned it to someone," she said as she began to shelve books in their appropriate places.

Natsuki opened the last box filled with books - thick and thin. She continued to place them on the shelf. There were other boxes left and they were considerably smaller than the ones they had been opening. Those boxes were filled with picture frames from her childhood.

Most of the pictures were of her and her brother, and only a couple was filled with the entire family. Others were of her childhood best friends, and one last picture (if Kira found it) was of Natsuki, her brother, some other boy and another person but she was torn out.
