Platypus (I hate you)

Kira sits at the desk in his room righting a paper for his English class. On his wall is tapped the constitution and the bill of rights. In the background the song "highway to hell" by AC/DC blared causing the walls to vibrate and flooding down the hallways.


Kira pulls down the bill of rights and highlights the first four amendments. Kira loved this paper seeing as it gave him the right to say "Mr.President, you are a dumb ass and get away with it

Natsuki was normally a girl who would leave people to themselves, but unfortunately there was this loud insistent music echoing down the hall and into her peaceful room. And that was how Natsuki found herself standing in front of Room 101, and her hand raised to knock.

She bit her lip. Should she really knock on this person's door just so she could tell them to quiet down? Last time Natsuki had requested such a thing she was snubbed and ignored by almost everyone in class.

Whatever. Just do it. She thought to herself as she gathered up her courage and rapped on the door three times.

Kira puts the last touches on his paper and puts it into a folder. "now for that damn speech" he says to him self. Kira hears the raps On the door. Kira walks towards his speakers and turns them down. With a sigh he walks over to the door.

As he does, he tries to formulate the speech for English in his mind. "those of you who wish for a ban on guns are ignorant ignoramuses". Kira opens the door and sees the girl and smiles says "hello, how may I help you?".

The moment the person in the room turned down the music, Natsuki felt a bit foolish now that her reason being there has just been... terminated. Once the door opened, Natsuki cleared her throat and tried to come up with something to explain her presence there.

"Uhm... Er... Hello," Natsuki gave a slight bow as it was custom and showed politeness, "I'm Natsuki Kanda and I just moved in."

A slight pause, "And... I just wanted to say hello?"

Right. That was a lame excuse. Heck! It wasn't even an excuse. Sometimes Natsuki wished she could just bang her head on the wall for her idiocy.

Kira sees the girl at his door and watches her bow. With a sigh he says "I ain't no king so please don't bow". That was one greeting Kira could not stand for what ever reason.

Kira fully opens the door and says "hi, I am Kira Yagami; but I bet the real reason you are hear is to tell me my music is to loud". Kira decides to add "sorry but it is the only way I can focus in this speech I'm writeing for English".

"Ah! Uhm... Sorry, it's a force of habit," Natsuki explained, looking to the side to try and hide her embarrassment.

She then glanced back when he introduced himself, "Pleased to meet you, Mr. Yagami."

Her eyes fell to the floor when he hit dead center on her reason for invading his privacy, "And yes that's the reason why I came. Please ignore my request then, and continue with your school work."

Walking by with a box of things, still in the middle of packing and unpacking, Andy overhears the music, much less the conversation.

Holding a box and before returning to his room, Andy turns and remarks, "Highway to Hell is an awesome song! You have good taste, my friend. Althou listen to Thunderstruck and Shoot To Thrill and NOT tell me Angus Young is crazy."

He dips his head to Kira and the attractive young lady, kicking himself about 2 seconds later when walking back to his room for not introducing himself to either of them.

"The name is Andy Peter Quinn! Nice to meet y'll!"

Kira smiles at the girl and says "don't worry, it just bugs me cause our founding fathers set up the country of America so that nobody would have to bow to anyone". Kira felt this was an adaquit reason.

Kira notices the girls embarrassment and does not say anything about calling him "Mister". Kira just smiles and says "nice to meet you too Ms... I am sorry I did not catch your name".


Kira thinks for a second and says "it is quite alright, I just have one scentence left, then I amm done. The irony is that the person who has to counter my speech is speaking against free speech and any other ammendment on the bill of rights. Oh sorry if I'm rambleimg. Would you like to come in and have a drink of water or simething?".

Kira hears Andy and says "well I can and will. There are far better bands and guitarists, such as Slash from guns n roses".

The twang of a sour note filled the empty air of his head.

"Slash? Really? I like the guy, and yes he has some awesome riffs, but He's far from the best, bro.

Eric Johnson? Joe Satroni? Stevie Ray Vaughn? Yeah, no. Slash is far from the best."

"But whatever, bro. To each his own."

He turned to entered his room, but popped his head out again. "Sorry you had to hear that, pretty lady. It's just one of my sour notes, if you will."

Andy closes the door.

"I see," Natsuki replied with a nod of her head.

Where she had come from bowing was a sort of greeting, and a way to show respect. Natsuki debated on whether or not to say so, but decided not to since she had already said it was a force of habit which it was. So if she added that to what she had already said then Natsuki felt that it would have sounded fake or whatever.

A boy then called out about the song being played. Natsuki remained quiet through their short conversation. She blushed when he, now dubbed Andy Peter Quinn, called her a pretty lady. Then she waved bye to his retreating figure.

When Kira asked for her name, Natsuki stuck her hand out, "Natsuki Kanda. And are you sure? I know it's just a single sentence, but I don't want to be a bother."

Kira smiles at the girl and says "it is no problem, we all have to live with eachither so why not make eachother happy". In reality Kira was annoyed, nobody else complained and half the time their music was louder and a hell of a lot more obnoxious. Kira walks over to a mini freezer and pulls out a box of eggo's.

Kira walks over to a toaster and asks "would you like one, or a drink?". He puts his waffles into the toaster, pokes the frozen button and waits for the toasted goodness pops up.

"I suppose you're right," Natsuki said as she stepped into Kira's room. "And no, that's alright. Thank you for the offer."

She stood by the closed door awkwardly. Being a guy's room, especially one she just met, made her a bit nervous and self-conscious. He was working on a paper, and he only had a sentence to go. Mr. Yagami probably thinks I'm annoying for disturbing him. Natsuki fidgeted with her clothing. Should I say bye now? No! Wait! You just entered and now you want to leave a quick second later? That's just rude.

Natsuki glanced around his dorm, and mentally shrugged her shoulders, "So... How long have you been here?"

Kira thinks for a second and says "I don't know, maybe a few weeks to a month, I don't really remember". Kira really did not remember and kind of does not care. "How long have you been here?" Kira asks to be polite.

Kira watches the waffles pop up and lays them in a plate. He walks over to his bed sits down and takes a bite. The kitchen table is covered in papers, guitar parts, and a beer bottle filled with root beer.

"I see... So you haven't been here that long then," Natsuki commented as she watched him walk to his bed to eat his waffles.

"I just arrived two days ago," she shrugged.

Kira and that Andy guy was the first people she'd met and actually talked to.

"well welcome to hell...er I mean Inu" Kira says in a joking tone. It was the kind of joke he made to most new people he meets at school.

"Hell, huh?" She smiled a bit. "Thanks for the welcome. I think I'll enjoy it here."

If this was Hell then Natsuki wished she'd come here sooner, but whatever - she was here now.

"So... any advice for the newbie?" She asked just to keep the conversation going.

Kira chuckles thinking about how he thought the same time, and how he met a lot of great people.

"well it might be wise to keep out of the eye of administration and watch out for the Head Masters charm. He is a man of many faces" Kira says with a little thought. He does not like how the Head Master keeps on using for him to spy.

Kira eats more of his waffles and asks "are you sure, you do not want anything?".

Natsuki raised an eyebrow at his advice. Just stay away from the Headmaster? Surely he couldn't that bad. He is the Headmaster after all.

"Is he bad or something?" She asked before shaking her head, "No. Really, I'm fine."

"He isn't bad, but he tends to involve his students in spying on other students, and that annoys me since it can cause more drama then it fixes" Kira says lazily.

He finishes eating the waffles and just puts the plate on another laying on his bed.

"Oh," her eyes furrowed at the revealed information. "That's... That's not good."

She hummed in thought before nodding to herself. If what Kira said is true then she should stay away from the Headmaster. But he's the Headmaster! What could he possibly be doing except running the school?

"And it does seem annoying. I hope no drama comes unto me then. I'm quite tired of it."

Kira smiles and says "well it is like that song says, any way the wind blows. Nothing really matters" Kira says in a tone resembling to the intro to Bohemian Rhapsody.

"well good luck, this is high school, it runs on drama' Kira says with a little laugh. This girl ain't so bad he thinks to himself

Natsuki laughed, "I suppose you're right. I should give up now on trying to NOT create drama, although I'd want to keep it to a minimum. You know?"

At least it wouldn't be like the drama at home. Ugh, whatever. Stop thinking about him. Natsuki berated herself.

"well, I wish you luck, I tried that and ended up knows as a person who gets into fight a lot" Kira says smiling. He did not mind this but some more straight laced people do.

"You fight a lot?" Natsuki's goody-two-shoes attitude was surfacing, "Isn't that against the rules? And don't you get detention for that?"

Instantly she slapped a hand on her mouth. That was mostly the reason why she had been bullied in school. Natsuki couldn't keep her mouth shut about rules and following them without bringing destruction upon herself.

"S-sorry," she mumbled, "That didn't come out right."

Kira laughs hard and then says "Well, the majority of the time it was self defense from people". Kira left out the knives and other weapons but hoped she got the gist.

"well I could get detention, but that would only be if I did more then incapacitate and leave. In Krav Maga that is what your taught to do so in self defense it is perfect". Kira says smiling.
